Terry surprises at 30-5A Meet

MISSION - An injured Tricia Terry was on crutches and was supposed to attend the District 30-5A Meet on Saturday at Sharyland as a spectator.
The distance runner, who suffered what was thought to be a season-ending injury to her foot two weeks ago, surprised everyone when she showed up to compete in Thursday's 3,200-meter run against doctor's orders, needing to sign a release to run.
She claimed her third consecutive 3,200-meter league title with a time of 11 minutes, 37.78 seconds Thursday and followed that with a third straight 1,600-meter district championship Saturday with a time of 5:16.29.
"I thought about it and I thought if I did everything right and was smart about it, I would be OK," Terry said. "I started to walk, and with enough Advil and icing my foot three or four times a day, I knew I could do it.  I plan to aqua-run for the next 5 weeks.”
